Digital Media: The Custom Microsite Solution

January 22, 2010 by custommedia

By Maly Ly

As B2B decision-makers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their consumption of trustworthy information and reliance on digital media before making business relationships or purchases, B2B marketers must turn to new audience engagement solutions. For brand marketers seeking innovative ROI, SourceMedia’s Custom Microsite solution offers a long-term content marketing opportunity to help promote brand awareness, convey thought leadership, and generate leads.

Working collaboratively with our clients, we will design, develop and manage a custom-branded microsite from conception to completion. The microsite could comprise of relevant content such as original editorial articles by a dedicated custom editor, repurposed articles from SourceMedia’s industry leading publications, as well as white papers, case studies, events, or rich media provided by the sponsor. It’s a collective solution to publishing all your best brand-generated content at one source for information-seeking customers. As part of the sponsorship, we would also create a fully comprehensive audience development campaign including dedicated emails, ad banners and promotion in our e-newsletters to help drive traffic to the microsite. Additionally, to help measure effectiveness, performance metrics reports and lead reports can be provided for further business development.

By sponsoring a Custom Microsite program, brand marketers have a turnkey opportunity to reach and establish relationships with our premium niche audiences across the financial services and business technology markets. Here are a couple samples of custom microsites recently produced by SourceMedia:

Content Counts

As Rob Whitaker noted in his well-worded post (really, read it if you haven’t already), 2009 promises to be a year full of unique challenges in our marketplace. With this in mind, I think it’s more important than ever to offer clients targeted and creative solutions to meet their particular marketing needs.

Our job here in Custom Media is to help fill your sales toolbox with a host of products and services you can customize for your clients. One such service that you may not be as familiar with is custom content development. As a publishing company with a solid track record of delivering expert material to our readers, we are the ideal candidate to offer this kind of service.

Let me give you some examples of how specialized content can help your clients meet their goals. Suppose your client has a monthly e-newsletter that she sends out to customers. (We can create e-newsletters, too, but that’s another blog entry.) She wants to cover practice management, but doesn’t have the staff resources to develop well-written and researched pieces or the time to manage the process. We can work with her to determine topics and assign and edit articles, giving her quality content she can use to better communicate with her customers.

Or, perhaps your client has created a resource center on his website, and needs articles on a variety of topics to populate the site. We can use a combination of original and repurposed articles to help him meet his content requirements. I’m not talking about filler; I’m talking about real information that provides real value to your client’s target audience.

Here’s a handy bulleted list of areas where content creation can come into play:

  • Podcasts
  • Web Seminars
  • White Papers
  • Single-Sponsored Inserts
  • E-newsletters
  • Microsites
  • Insert Your Idea Here (Suggestions always welcome)

In closing, quality content counts. We can help your clients create the content their customers will want to read and refer back to again and again.

What is Custom Media and Why Should You Care?

I’m often asked, “What is custom media and why does it matter?” Because traditional advertising isn’t enough anymore.

More Than Just an Ad

In Custom Media, we provide content marketing solutions to sponsors that want to educate their customers, enhance their position in new markets, and foster relationships/business opportunities. Whether it’s a conference daily, web seminar, podcast or microsite, we collaborate with sponsors to produce custom programs across SourceMedia brands and audiences. Content marketing, custom publishing, or custom media – for an advertiser, it means finding creative solutions to engage their best clients and stretch media dollars further.

The Age of Engagement

As we’ve all experienced, the media and marketing landscape has changed significantly with the advent of technology and growing sophistication of consumer expectations. The world of publishing is evolving and content is more ubiquitous than ever. Consumers, both B2C and B2B, are looking to be engaged with  and not merely advertised to. They’ll look for the information they need and most likely buy from those sources. During these times of globalization and economic uncertainty, it’s even more important for marketers – our clients – to extend their effectiveness through custom media.
